A 49 year old woman who suffered with chronic pain was out of options. She worked in the health care field where mistakes were not tolerated. She was not able to get her neuropathic pain under control with oral pain medications.
Trials with various pain medications had failed or caused intolerable side effects. By the time she heard about topical pain gels she was taking Lyrica for her pain but was having lots of drowsiness. She had
recently received several suboptimal performance reviews with her employer and was on the verge of being let go.
This is one of many examples of how compounded topical pain gels can relieve pain and avoid systemic side effects often caused by prescription pain medications. She was then prescribed a combination of Ketamine 5%, Ketoprofen 5%, Gabapentin 5%, Lidocaine 5% in Lipoderm gel. After using it for several days she was able to stop her oral pain medications, her drowsiness went away and she was able to perform her job without making mistakes caused by the side effects of the oral medication and was able to keep her job

Topical Pain Gel Helps Woman With Sciatic Nerve Pain
An active 61 year old woman began experiencing severe pain down her hip and leg. It got so bad she had a hard time getting in and out of her car and sitting for long periods of time made it even worse. She was diagnosed with a cyst on her spine which was putting pressure on her sciatic nerve. She had a procedure done to drain the cyst along with an epidural steroid injection to reduce inflammation. This relieved her pain very quickly.
About 5-6 weeks later the pain started to return. She had heard about the topical pain gels we make for nerve pain and she decided to try one of these instead of another epidural injection. She used a combination of Ketamine 5%, Gabapentin 5%, Lidocaine 5%, Clonidine 0.2% and Baclofen 2% in Lipoderm penetrating gel.
After several days of use she reported that the pain was not getting any worse and after a week it was getting better. She used it at least 3 times daily for 2 weeks then decreased it to once or twice daily and still maintains relief.
After 3 months she has still not had to have another injection and is very pleased with her results.

A 36 year old woman had been battling acne since childhood. Her husband would comment that he felt like he was married to a teenager. She had tried every over the counter and prescription product on the market but had never been able to get control over her acne. Her next step before contacting us was Accutane® which she was not to eager to take due to risks and side effects.
She found us at a conference and was looking through our materials and noticed we had some compounded options for acne. She used it twice daily for several months and reported that her face had never looked so good. She is very pleased with the results. For more information contact Redline Pharmacy.

We recently contacted 2 patients who had filled a prescription for Dr. Newman's Nipple Ointment. This is a combination of low-dose anti-inflammatories,
anti-bacterial and anti-fungal medications to treat sore nipples during breastfeeding.
As is typical when contacting new mothers using Newman's Nipple Ointment they both reported that it was "great, wonderful and/or a life saver!"
This compounded medication works quickly to reduce pain and inflammation that is common when starting to breastfeed. Mothers are advised to use for no more than 1 week and if there is no improvement or their symptoms get worse to contact their provider or lactation consultant.
A 6 week old infant was prescribed Zantac syrup for reflux which was working fine until he developed a rash and began crying excessively. He
has a history of wheat, egg, corn and milk allergies and it turns out that there is a corn-based ingredient in the commercially available Zantac syrup. His doctor advised them to call us to see if there was anything we could do. We were able to compound a Zantac (ranitidine) syrup that did not contain the corn-based ingredient (and tastes much better than the manufactured versions). Also, the next day we mixed an antibiotic liquid that was free from any allergens. The parents reported that both of these medications were working well and not causing any rashes or crying.
Call the pharmacy with any questions about allergen, dye or preservative-free medications.

Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a condition that can cause severe discomfort or pain in the bladder and abdomen and is far more common in women than in men. Women's symptoms often get worse during their periods and they may also have pain with sexual intercourse
Cindy has suffered with IC for years and has tried several alternative and traditional treatments including Pyridium and estrogen cream. She has also followed an IC diet and avoids coffee, caffeine, spicy foods as well as other possibly offending foods. Neither of these treatments has resulted in much relief. Cindy's doctor prescribed a diazepam vaginal cream to be used up to 3-4 times daily.

One of our patients who began using our estriol 0.05% wrinkle cream relayed the following story to us.
My husband and I were on a weekend trip to Omaha and we were having dinner one evening at a restaurant. I had not told him I started using the anti-wrinkle cream from your pharmacy about 6 weeks earlier. During dinner he stopped and looked at me and said, maybe it's the lighting in here but you don't look like you have as many wrinkles.' I had not noticed much change from day to day but it was clear to me now that the estriol anti-wrinkle cream was working! (see 08/2010 edition for wrinkle cream article)
