01 Feb Let’s Talk About Sex
Sexual desire and drive fluctuate throughout our lifetimes: from crazy teenage passion to struggles to perform and/or enjoy intimacy at an older age. Losing sex drive can add stress to marriages and lead to feelings of inadequacy for both the man and woman. Abstaining from intercourse as we age can be detrimental to your marriage and your health. Maintaining a healthy sex life can lead to a stronger immune system, lower blood pressure, stronger pelvic floor in women, more sexual desire and a decreased risk of prostate cancer for men (with ejaculations >20 times per month).
Unfortunately, as we age, sex can become more challenging. Stress, medications and hormonal imbalance can affect the health and elasticity of the vaginal tissue in women and the ability to achieve and maintain erections in men. These physical changes can be helped through medication changes or the addition of prescription creams or erectile dysfunction therapies.
Redline Specialty Pharmacy can help determine if hormones are affecting your desire and ability to engage in intercourse. Feel free to contact us with questions or concerns.
We are offering a seminar titled “Let’s Talk About Sex” on February 13th at 12:10pm at the pharmacy. Jen Ramaekers, PharmD will be discussing reasons for sexual decline, options for lifestyle changes and therapies to make sex more enjoyable at all stages of life.
