Low Dose Naltrexone & Fibromyalgia

Do you suffer from fibromyalgia? Is your current medication such as Cymbalta, Savella or Lyrica not working for you anymore?

Low dose naltrexone (LDN) has been demonstrated to reduce symptom severity in conditions such as fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, CRPS and other pain conditions. LDN has unique anti-inflammatory actions in the central nervous system.

LDN was shown to be an effective treatment in two seperate, small clinical trials. In both trials, LDN was administered at 4.5mg daily, once at night before bedtime. In the first crossover trial, LDN reduced fibromyalgia pain significantly greater than placebo in 6 out of the 10 women (2009). The second study consisted of 30 women with fibromyalgia. In this study, 57% of the participants had a significant reduction of pain while taking LDN. When the study concluded, half of the participants reported feeling “much improved” or “very much improved” from taking LDN.

LDN has several advantages that make it an attractive treatment option for patients who have tried and failed other treatments for their chronic pain condition:

  • Low Cost: The daily cost is less than a cup of coffee.
  • Low Side Effects: The reported incidence of side effects is very low, which include transient insomnia and vivid dreams.
