09 May “I Was Simply, Tired of Being Tired”
“My wife and I are in our early 40’s. We both had horrible eating habits. Anything from eating in bed watching TV to late night runs to get sweets and ice cream. We would dig through the closet with plenty to wear but most of our clothes were stuff we hoped to fit in again someday.
I was tired of my jeans being so uncomfortable to be in. I was tired of being exhausted from just getting up off of the floor. I was at the point where even tying my shoes got me winded. I was simply, just tired of being tired. My wife had been talking to me about the Ideal Protein (IP) program and quite honestly I had zero hope in it actually working. I really just thought it was another diet that maybe I would loose a few pounds and after a couple weeks I would be sick of the food. When I heard, ‘no bread’ I was thinking…’NOPE, this isn’t gonna last long.’
She started IP a couple weeks before me. I slowly was trying to ween myself off of soda, which by the way, I would on a normal day drink 3 – 32 oz. fountain drinks, and started eating lean meats and vegetables with her for dinner. At first it was tough refraining from eating in bed and the headaches from caffeine withdrawals weren’t much fun either, but I was ready for a change.
I met with my coach (Courtney). It was a bit uncomfortable at first getting weighed and measured, but my wife and I decided we were going to do this and I wasn’t about to let her down. I picked out all of my IP foods and went over the guidelines of IP and vitamins with Courtney. After the first week, the headaches were gone. The constant urges to eat were getting less and less and much to my surprise the IP foods tasted amazing. I came back to meet with Courtney the next week and WOW, I was already down 10lbs. Over the next few weeks I found myself wanting to cheat a little here and there but Courtney kept me on track and thinking positive. I started noticing that I was sleeping better and I felt more rested in the morning. I had so much more energy. I realized then, that this was more than just a diet, it was a healthier lifestyle.
When my wife and I started this journey I weighed 246 lbs. Today, I am very happy to report that I weigh 185 lbs. and have lost over 23 inches. I feel great! The clothes I hoped to fit in someday have been given away because guess what…they are too big! So yes, I had to go clothes shopping.
